The Dorrigo is a celebration of traditional leatherwork. Richly detailed, versatile and made entirely by hand. She carries the original Armidale shape, the same shape I chose for my own bag. The Armidale came first; The Dorrigo is a new interpretation in chocolate brown leather, with silver-tone rivets and a little more tooling.
Crafted from vegetable-tanned leather and hand-dyed in a rich chocolate finish, every variation in tone forms part of the character of the hide and the hand-finishing process.
Traditional hand tooling travels across the front, back, integrated handles, closure and wide removable strap, with every impression individually worked into the leather. Silver-tone hardware complements the deep chocolate tones, including the individually riveted leather tabs that wrap around the base and sides of the bag.
Designed to be worn three ways, the adjustable strap allows The Dorrigo to sit across the body or over the shoulder. Remove the strap entirely and the sculptural cut-out handles transform her into a beautifully structured handbag carried by hand.
At the centre sits a statement tooled closure, finished with the Rae & Rue maker’s mark, while the tooling continues around the back, along the strap and through the smaller details. A piece designed to be beautiful from every angle.
